"I WAS A STRANGER AND YOU WELCOMED ME..."

When a family has lost its home it is devastated. There are so many ways that a family can become homeless. Fire, loss of income, substandard housing, drug abuse or mental illness can all play a part in a family becoming homeless. When this happens, they can turn to Catholic Urban Program's Holy Angels Shelter. It is located at 1410 North 37th St in E. St. Louis, and houses single women, women with children and intact families.

Holy Angels was opened in 1985 and serves an average of 200 people a year. The shelter is funded by:

  • Private donations
  • Organizational donations
  • Government and Private grants
