About Catholic Urban Programs
We create pathways to positive futures by addressing issues stemming from intergenerational poverty. Our three social service programs work in collaboration to help meet the needs of our community’s most vulnerable.
Our efforts are concentrated in the Diocese of Belleville, particularly in St. Clair County, Illinois. The goal of our ministry is to personify the Corporal Works of Mercy, which Christ reveals in the gospel of Matthew.
“For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me, naked and you clothed me, ill and you cared for me, in prison and you visited me.”
Who We Are
To meet the needs of the people in the Metro East area by building relationships to support their progress towards self-sufficiency through safety net, prevention, education, and empowerment programs that remediate the effects of poverty.
To break the cycle of poverty and rekindle hope in those we serve.
CUP focuses on people. Our faith-based foundations uphold us to the highest standards and our actions are driven by our core values:
We seek to understand those we serve by inspiring trust through kindness and caring.
We are committed to doing what is right by choosing honesty, respect and gratitude.
We strive to serve all in need with an open-mind, love, and willingness to adapt.
We are driven by our passion to help through professional, educational, and focused solutions that achieve overall impact to our community.
